From 2012 Big Red Curtain will be offering a range of exams from Trinity Guildhall as we are now a private examination centre for Trinity Guildhall. We are looking forward to providing a wider range of examinations provided by Trinity College London (Formerly Trinity Guildhall) Examination Board our new preferred Examination Board for Speech, Drama, Musical Theatre and Performance Arts. For further information search for Trinity College London Examination Board.

All examination boards used by Big Red Curtain are UCAS accredited and provide internationally recognised qualifications. UCAS points are awarded on the higher grades and will aid your entry into further education such as undergraduate courses.

Big Red Curtain offers optional LAMDA examinations and qualifications as an independent mark of achievement which is recognised by Local Education Authorities (LEA) and the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA).

LAMDA Examinations is accredited as an Awarding Body by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) in England, and the corresponding regulatory authorities in Wales (ACCAC) and Northern Ireland (CEA).

The LAMDA qualifications listed below are accredited by QCA, ensuring transparency, consistency and fairness. This means that they are now part of the National Qualifications Framework and equate with other qualifications within the sector.

Individual LAMDA Examinations (Solo/Duo)

The most popular exams that Big Red Curtain Students take are below:
LAMDA examinations in Musical Theatre for the Actor/Singer are designed to develop
the skills necessary to communicate the dramatic content of musical text over a range
of musical styles/categories. The emphasis is on performance and presentation rather
than on the study of musical theatre as a whole.
These examinations also provide candidates with the opportunity to develop skills
which support the delivery of dramatic text and devised performance.

Graded Examinations in Drama: Acting (Solo/Duologue/Combined) are designed to
develop the skills necessary to communicate dramatic text to an audience.

Graded Examinations in Drama: Devised Performance (Solo/Duologue) are designed to
develop the skills necessary to devise a dramatic performance and present it to an
audience.

Group LAMDA Examinations

LAMDA Examinations in Musical Theatre for Group Examinations are designed to
develop the skills necessary to communicate the dramatic content of musical text in
an ensemble. The emphasis is on performance and presentation rather than on the
study of musical theatre as a whole.

Candidates who prepare themselves appropriately will develop:

1. - Interpretative skills

2. - Technical skills

3. - Interactive skills

These examinations offer candidates the opportunity of sharing responsibility for the
performance and therefore the group, not the individual candidate, is assessed.
This means that the specification format does not include ‘Learning Outcomes' or
‘Level Descriptions' as are given in the Solo/Duo examinations for individual
candidates to assess the skills, knowledge and understanding of the individual.

Group Examinations are open to all individuals regardless of age.
